MECHANICA PERFECTUM

2018

Experimental Short Film - CIU Project at SAE Qantm

In my CIU Module, at SAE Qantm Sydney; I was given the opportunity to work with 4 other students to produce an 'interdisciplinary creative project'.

Our team consisted of:

  • Brandon Hon (Animation Student)

  • Chris Yip (Film Student)

  • Krishna Viswanathan (Film Student)

  • Lavinia Meyer (Games Student)

  • Rhys Moses (Games Student)

Project: Mechanica Perfectum is a short experimental film exploring the social pressure of “human augmentation” in the workforce/workplace.

While taking more of a science-fiction/typical AI takeover standpoint, the project is loosely based off the transhuman ideas of enhancing/restoring the human body; inspired by theories on the “Future of Work” and “Human Enhancement”.

We wanted to create a ‘lens’ into an alternate world; where augmented workers have surpassed human ones, and what a super AI could potentially do with that.

FINAL MOVIE

MY CONTRIBUTIONS

For this project I had a hand in pretty much all parts of the Production. From doing Pre-Production Concept Art, writing the Screenplay, as well as Compositing the Final Movie in After Effects.

Not to mention it was my first time "Acting" for a Video/Film since a long time (Primary School). Working alongside Film Students with the Filming Session gave me a huge insight into their whole process.

The Audio was collected from online sources, with most of them being 'royalty-free'. The list of all the assets we didn't create can be found in the references at the end of this page.
